Apple crisp with caramel fondue and Oka apple cheese

  • 1 ml (¼ tsp) cinnamon
  • 30 ml (2 tbsp) brown sugar
  • 15 ml (1 tbsp) cornstarch
  • 6 McIntosh apples, peeled and diced
  • 375 ml (1 ½ cups) quick-cooking oats
  • 180 ml (¾ cup) brown sugar
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) unbleached all-purpose flour
  • ½ package (190 g) Oka apple cheese, grated
  • 60 ml (¼ cup) melted butter
  • 1 Chocolats Favoris butter caramel fondue
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the cinnamon, 30 ml (2 tbsp) of brown sugar, and the cornstarch.
  3. Add the apples, toss to coat well, and transfer to a 23 cm (9 in) square or round ovenproof dish.
  4. Microwave the caramel fondue for 15 seconds and set aside.
  5. Using the same large bowl, combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, and grated cheese. Add the melted butter, mix well, and spread over the apples. Pour half of the caramel fondue over the mixture.
  6. Press lightly.
  7. Bake for 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  8. Serve warm and drizzle with the remaining caramel fondue.
